Becoming a Person Who Prays
Prayer starts with awareness. Think about the current day or things that come to mind from recent days. Recall times of peace, excitement, anger, frustration, confusion, or gratitude. Writing in a journal may help.
Speak to God about the items that come to mind, paying special attention to recollections that are unsettled or troubling, and those actions or thoughts where you fell short.
Sit still and allow God to calm your heart.
David prayed,
“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.” - Psalm 51:2-3
