The name comes from the opening pages of the Bible in Genesis, wherein God rested on the 7th day, after completing the work of creation. The 7th day was special in that it did not have morning or evening. It was a day without beginning or end. It was truly different from the previous days of work, and was set aside as holy unto the Lord.
